Battery Storage

Hi everyone,

I have a couple of question, Can a common switchgear be used for both battery and solar in 3-7 MW َAC-Coupled projects, and then connected to a transformer and grid, or should separate switchgears be considered for the battery and transformer, separate from the solar system?
Moreover, the voltage and frequency of the Inverter and PCS systems are exactly the same.

Thanks,

    Welcome to the forum Alireza,

I think we need a bit more clarity to answer your question... "Swtichgear" is a fairly generic term (AC power switching, Telephone Switching, etc.)...

Guessing you are talking about "power" switch gear, then there is a huge difference between AC and DC equipment... From differences in actual switches (AC switching is "easier" vs DC switching, etc.)... to transformers are AC only. And to AC to DC vs DC to AC conversion gear, etc....

Then there is the whole question of power (Watts peak/average output) vs energy storage (Watt*Hours of stored energy).

With a 3-7 MWatt power output and (who knows) hours to days worth of 3-7 MWatts * X hours of storage--Pretty much a separate question that has almost always been addressed by some sort of Battery  Bank, hydroelectric storage, and other alternatives (molten salts, compressed air, etc.).

And another big issue--Backup power--To support hours/days/weeks of low solar harvest (load support, "recharging" storage bank, etc.).

At the levels of power (and storage) you are asking about--You are looking for a professional engineering firm to manage/design/etc. such a project. That is more than most of us here are capable of answering in detail.

If you want to talk about the "basics" of solar DC and AC power--We can certainly help get a conversation going.
