Schneider Gateway and new products for Home and Facility

Two new products out very soon and one will be less expensive. The Insight home shaves the cost by eliminating the WIFI and extra 2nd set of xanbus networking. The Insight Facility is really for a microgrid application. The Conext Gateway should have new firmware soon also.

Ummm, I'm sure this is great, but this is getting confusing - So basically:
    •  Insight is the cloud software (Insight, aka Conext Insight 2 ???),
    •  InsightMobile SE is the app portal (Cloud/WiFi/Bluetooth).
    •  Insight hardware - does this now basically just add Bluetooth app connectivity that is lacking in the Gateway (which is WiFi only?)
    •  Gateway - logging and remote monitoring - couldn't the Gateway just have Bluetooth built in instead of adding yet another device?
This seemingly circular proliferation of devices kinda reminds me of one of the all time great comic strips:

It is just saving you some money if you do not need wifi or 2 networks. You may not need any of this. Keep it simple offgrid !
That said, it can be really valuable to see a 24 hour graphic of a power system, and nice for some if they can do this from a smart phone.
    I liked the comic.

Ahh - Is the InsightHome a cheaper, Gateway (via Bluetooth, shortrange WiFi ) that only goes to "10" ???

How is it that the product press releases get issued devoid of any actual indication of what a product does specifically.

Even after reviewing their data-sheets, I still wonder what the differences are in functionality between InsightHome ( 1 port), InsiteFacility (2 ports, longer range Wifi) and Gateway (system config, Wifi, 2 ports, relay, data logger)

The difference is that there are folks with very large power systems, micro-grids, that need alot of devices to reliably communicate.
I think if you looked into it more you would see the need.  Alot of it comes from the Utility requirements all over the world where these products are sold.

Offgrid you may need that extra little something, and these go to eleven.

Insight Home is in the store here now for $333. It does have wifi station mode but only one xanbus network.

The Com devices Gateway, Insight Home and Facility are at firmware version 1.14 now. This supports several name brand battery manufactures BMS. This adds closed loop control and operation of a power system. The new 2 minute real time monitor from the cloud can help with seeing a live view. More news to come soon :)
