PV Panel grounding and wiring.

I am putting in 14 PV panels on 7 masts. The will be pretty close to each other (3-4 ft) so how do most people handle grounding the panels. I can have one long grounding rod, and use direct bury from each masts, or put in a grounding rod for each mast. The reason I am asking, I worry about lightening running from mast to mast, like it can do from person to person on a sports field. It might be a silly question, but there it is.
