    any one with lead carbon battery experience ?

    How about starting a new thread!  I take it you are talking about "smart carbon" or the 5 year old technology that Trojan and Outback sell?

    I have only 5 years experience with Trojan and it has not been bad. Not long enough to really say much other than I doubt it will be much better as there are many variables that shorten life of an offgrid battery. The advertising seems to make sense but I have not seen any data from accelerated life testing to compare. The price does not seem much more when the banks were installed compared to the generic.

    Not sure  if im talking about smart carbon or old carbon. Outback have just launched a " new carbon " battery , but
    here in Newzealand  we dont get a great range . trojan importers dont bring in the RE range .

    Outback may have launched them there but has had them here for at least 5 years. I would buy what my local supplier can get. Shipping bad batteries for warranty is a losing game.
