Crown CR350

Need some help in Crowns terminology on charging. Setting up system in my garage before installing in cottage. As per attached, gassing point=bulk? I have only read about bulk, absorb, float, and equalization. I have a Trace SW4024 and 4 crown CR350 batteries. No panels, using grid in my shop over winter to get familiar with charging batteries.

Gassing point = transition from bulk to absorb. Bulk = constant current, absorb = constant voltage (~7.2v)Off-grid.

Thanks Estragon, I think I understand.
Set bulk @ 28.8 volts
Absorption time 3.5-5 hours
Float @ 26 volts ?
Equalize @ 28.8
Equalize time 3 hours
Max charge amps AC @ 10 amps

I am contacting you on behalf of Crown Battery Manufacturing Company. To answer your question the charge control settings for your 12 volt system please refer to page 3 of the attached deep cycle support brochure. The suggested settings for your 12 volt system are also listed below:
Daily Charge (Absorption): 14.5
Equalize: 15.5
Float: 13.5
this is what crown sent me to use on my cr235, your voltages seem to be a little low according to them

The EQ instructions are really more applicable to a grid charging regime. Off-grid, there may not be time for what's effectively a 6-8hr absorb cycle. For off-grid, we generally do a shorter EQ at a higher voltage - eg DCmike's 15.5v (31v for you) or so. Do the EQ until the SG on the lowest cell stops rising. If you run out of sun while it's still rising, repeat the next day. You could do the extended absorb method while they're grid charging in the garage though.
I'd maybe set the current limit a bit higher as 10aac@120v will likely be less than 10x120÷29vdc out. Chargers can have lousy power factors, so DC out could be quite a bit less. Best to measure it so you can set AC input limit accordingly.Off-grid.

And watch battery temperature during equalization. 2.5% to 5% rate of charge can easily take a battery bank over 110F if doing hours of EQ (if batteries get too hot, let cool for a few hours or overnight and continue EQ the next day).
