12v dc 2 wire wind gen hookup help

Hi

I have a 12v dc 2 wire wind gen that is connected directly to my batteries. However its only adding voltage not amps thus not charging the batteries.

The wind gen tests from the red/black wires show reversed current. Red is neg and black is pos. The manual says install the diode on the pos side. I would assume that's the red wire. But this does not go well with me. Seems light I could blow something like that.

Are these how they are supposed to be wired and connected. Or should I connect it red to red wire on the battery the tester shows that red wire is -12v but when o revere the test leads. Red to black etc it shows pos
