Wire distance same for Positive/Negative

Is it a good idea to keep the positive and negative wires the same distance? 

I have three solar panels wired in series. The negative side is only 1 foot from the junction box but the positive side is 17' from the junction box. Is it best to make both leads the same size(the longest length)? So make the negative 17' as well?

They do not need to be the same length.   Do these panels have built in cables and connectors?  If so, do not cut them to make them shorter.

Yes they have cables and no i will wont make them shorter.

Maybe its pedantic but i do prefer the pos and neg of all wiring to be near the same length. That minimises induced surges, however ill agree that the modules themselves are an awfully squiggly antenna of its own. As far as each string goes it doesnt matter the length because the internal resistance of the modules is quite high.
