Just a few Photos - New Install
Brief notes:
Client had an existing array set of 42 Panels. These had worked really well and were producing power within spec (I.e. the calculations were pretty spot on estimated daily kwh production etc) As this is a large property, more was needed to offset consumption patterns. An additional 42 panels were installed. Another main panel had to be installed so as to avoid overloading the existing 200amp service panel.
We only did the wiring, the panels were mounted and secured by someone else.
Would have liked to have documented it more/better, but maybe next time. Also wish the electrical room were a bit cleaner but not everything we can control.

Missing photos of the primary ac disconnect and pv warning/compliance tags/vinyl stickers.

Looks nice and neat !
Like the stranded wires. They carry more volts/amps for equal sized solid wire.Nature's Design & Green Energy on FaceBook : Stop by and "Like" us anytime.. Many up-to-date articles about Renewables every day.

Yes, mfriedman,Nice large system, unusual PV mounting (know that you said that you did not do that) ...
G P M,
REMEMBER this from a week of so ago;
Skin Effect? At 60 Hz, the difference between Solid and Stranded conductors is infinitesimal. The Skin Depth at 60 Hz, is about one third of an INCH. The stranded conductors in the pics of this installation are not nearly that large, it appears. And the conductors would need to be considerably larger than that 0.33-ish inch diameter to have significant effect.
For pulling cables into conduit, the cable really does need to be stranded.
At Radio Frequencies, Skin Effect is an important consideration. But, choosing stranded over solid conductors is often not the solution to minimizing losses from this effect -- tubular conductors, Silver plating, etc are often used at RF to minimize losses.
And, primarily the voltage carrying capability of a cable depends upon the INSULATION on that cable.

Voltage rating is a function of insulation. If the actual csa of the solid wire is compared with actual csa
of the stranded wire (rather than the sum of the csa of individual
strands), then a solid wire will have more copper and hence lower
resistance. This is frequency independent.
So, at low frequencies or DC, a solid wire of the same core diameter
will be better than stranded. As frequency rises, a point will come
where stranded wire will be better; it will be able to take a higher
current than a solid core of the same diameter.

Voltage capacity depends on the type of insulation used and not if the wire is stranded or solid.

gotta love it when the juice start flowing !
