I have read many posts explaining amp hour as it relates to batteries and I am just getting more confused! My local Sams has 2 different golf cart batteries...

12V....
  • 20 amp hour rate:155
  • Minutes at 25 amps:292
  • Minutes at 56 amps:110
  • Minutes at 75 amps:77
  • Volts:12
6V....
  • 20 amp hour rate:215
  • 5 amp hour rate:157
  • 6 amp hour rate:156
  • Minutes at 25 amps:395
  • Minutes at 75 amps:105
  • Volts:6
What would the resulting amp hour rating be for....
  (4) 6V wired series/parallel
  (2) 12V parallel

If you use 4 of the 6-volt batteries at 12 volts, the 20 hr capacity will be 430 ah.

Two of the 12 volt batteries in parallel will be 310 ah at 12 volts.

What does "20 hr capacity" mean?

It means that you are drawing the amps at a rate that will kill the battery in 20 hours.

Thus, if you have a 430 ah battery bank, you can draw 21.5 amps for 20 hours.  Because of Peukert's law, if you draw more amps, the battery has lower capacity.
