charge controller in ungrounded system

Battery bank is 12 volt, panels around 60 volts. Charge controller - I am looking at Midnite Classic - has negative connections for battery and PV as a common connection. So.. what is the effect, say, on battery chemistry, or whatever, of connecting ungrounded negative lines from the 12V battery and the 60V PV?

    Should be no problem.

Most/Many solar charge controllers have a common connection for array negative and battery negative.

Next question may be, should you chassis ground/earth ground the battery negative bus.

Depends on where/how the system is installed.

Bill, we have had ungrounded 12V DC for years. No motivation to ground, and the soil on our house flat is particularly rocky.
