Guys, sorry I did not say earlier, but I do have a clamp meter. I'll be using it for the next day or so.

Finally got the SG to 1.280 by using the generator (ramming about 90 amps in early-on) and then another EQ. I reset the FNDC settings, unplugged the communication cable and now will see if the FM's will use Absorb.

Thanks y'all for all the advice.

    Hi Paul,

Great to hear that you were able to get your SGs up to where you want them. Hope that the FMs will also be able to do their jobs correctly, as well.

FYI, just saw this on the OB Forum:

    Vic,

SG is up (slightly), but Absorb still down. Get only a very few minutes absorb a day and the SG is slowly dropping again. Looks like I will be involving Outback techicians to find out what's going on. I may start with your earlier recommendations to take the FNDC temporarily out of the loop, I just need to know to do that properly so as not to lose ground on what I have accomplished. Thanks.

    Hi Paul,

    Thanks for the update.

I have no personal experience with the OB FNDC, But, the very first thing that I would do with a system that has an FNDC, would be to DISABLE IT immediately. And try to keep it disabled for the foreseeable future.

The FNDC appears to have significant BUGs, and its operation appears to almost guarantee that batteries will be mistreated, until several bugs get fixed.

You have significant PV power available (given little/no shading, or inclement weather). It is a shame that you have needed to run the genset to actually get your batteries topped off. I know nothing of the exact issue with your system, but, many, many systems have worked quite well for decades without the "benefit" of the FNDC.

The FNDC may be an acceptable Battery Monitor, but from reading all of the posts on the OB Forum, it seems to get in the way of getting batteries recharged in an effective, efficient manner.

Just my opinions. Contacting OB Tech Support does seem to be a very good idea. Best of Luck, Vic

Im with Vic, any troubleshooting diagnosis starts by isolating suspect components. Unplug the FNDC from the hub to take it out of the picture. This wont do any harm to your system. Its not even required. (its two functions are ending absorb and monitoring for monitorings sake.)Then try to get the FM on its own to absorb. It really is critical that you fix this soon.
