Here's an interesting twist that I'm gonna be keeping an eye on. As a means to reduce or eliminate friction, apparently they're considering using magnets to eliminate the need for bearings and make the shaft friction free. That means no having to swap out bearings, or deal with the loses caused by the friction, albeit slight, that bearings cause. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out in reality. I mean, hey, if they can make windmills that last 30 years and never need bearings or to be greased, I'm all for it.
