Site/ Pump Selection for Solar Pumping System

Dear Sir

The issue on which i need your help is the current site where i have to design the pumping system for is mostly saline, the sweet water is available till the depth of 30 feet only, after that the water contains contamination and is not fit for drinking purposes.

Please advise me for the selection of solar pump, whether should go for submersible or surface pumps. Ans also how to check the draw down level as on the current locations neither electricity is not available nor there is any other source to pump the water.
