Enphase Micro Inverters... Is Envoy Required???

I called Enphase as they were still open for support calls and got my answer. They said it is not necessary but of course they recommend.

    I cannot state this definitively, but based on a good number of posts here and in other forums it looks like as long as the factory default settings are OK for you (basically 240V, US standard service), you do not need the Envoy.
    If you absolutely have to change some settings to get the unit to work (like changing frequency or grid voltage upper or lower limits) then you either need to get the Envoy or have the installer use an Envoy to tune the system up for you.
    It is possible that Enphase will ship a differently configured unit if clearly ordered for other standards, but I would not count on it. :-)
