For a drain back system to work the panel return port needs to be higher than the pipeline back to the hot water tank,no???
what would you do if a portion of the return line was higher than the lower panel port but not by much..??

    You will find out many of the common mistakes/problems with doing solar thermal systems. Very sharp guy and he documented his project well.

    You would not believe there are so many ways of getting into trouble with a "simple" hot water system.
