What do you think of this new CC from Midnite???? A good cheaper alternative if you had say 1000 watts of solar and a 500 watt wind genny??? One CC for each..what do you think..????

    Re: The Kid

    Hi ws ..,

I think that the KID is a great, medium-sized CC. It is rated at 30 Amps charge current output to the battery, is quite small, includes an LCD display, can operate with input voltages up to 150 V (very unusual for CCs in this range), easy FirmWare updated via USB, has a very capable output circuit also built-in, AND does not need a fan. MidNite has already made the WhizBang Jr -- the battery current Monitor -- work with the KID, and they are perfecting the battery SOC function. A very nice system, which is getting better and better with FW updates frequently.

AND, it is a MidNite product, which means that the owner will get the customary world's best Customer and Tech Support.

We have a Beta KID here, and am very, very impressed with it -- am using it with a 12 V battery, and it does a great job.

My opinions. I have no personal interest in MidNite Solar, just another very happy customer of their many great products!

    Re: The Kid

    what specs do you plan for the system? System V is quite important when using a smaller amperage CC, 1000W @ 48 V is ~ 20 A, 1000W @ 12V is ~ 83A...

    ws ..,

I have to agree with you that MidNite does very well with all that they do (extending your previous thought).

The MidNite String Sizing Tools are very, very easy to use. Here is the one for the KID CC:

I believe they will have the Kid ready for wind and hydro this year, if not already? I haven't been to their forum in a couple / few weeks. So, I haven't been keeping up on their progress.
