Be careful with the extension cord... I am guessing that your condo may be inspected once a year by the fire department. They can red tag your condo/the whole section in a New York minute if they see the extension cord outside as a "semi-permanent" installation and it is not taken down right away (or if they find it connected again later).
That will not win you any friends in your association.
