Remote System Monitoring

Anyone have any recommendations for remote system monitoring options? I'm looking for a way to monitor both system production (PV) and use (inverter), so I can accurately see the daily power usage for my offgrid cabin (especially when I'm not there). I already have a always-on 3G modem there that gives me wifi connectivity - I'd like to find something that can tap into that to allow me the ability to monitor it from afar. I have the Magnum data online through my inverter, which is great for monitoring battery status, but that doesn't produce any info on system usage. I'm having limited success with the midnite online monitoring (through my classic CC), but that also doesn't track power produced/used by my inverter (all my power usage is AC). Anyone have any suggestions? I'd prefer something that doesn't require a PC/laptop always running at the cabin - too much additional wattage draw.

    Re: Remote System Monitoring

Im not familiar with magnum inverters, but ive heard its hard to get the data out in a usable form, other than the service they provide.

However If you add a whizbang to the classic, it will give you access to DC load data, which is proportional to AC load data. You ccan parallel it with the shunt in the epanel if you use one for the magnum.

Check out http://code.google.com/p/theblackboxproject/ for examples of how you can use midnite data.
