Definitely NOT trying to scare folks, rather give something to think about. With PV getting ever cheaper, is it time for more of us to consider solar for our well being. I'm no alarmist, but find interesting comfort knowing a grid failure wouldn't be a threat to me for months.

for those that get nat geo channel they will be having a movie titled 'american blackout' about a scenario where the whole u s has a blackout and it airs on the 27th of oct at 9pm eastern.

Interesting little device for charging cell phones, cameras etc using heat from a camp fire etc.

that's just a thermo electric device using peltier technology. not advisable to only have the flame for only the purpose of heating that up as that would be a waste of the propane. at least roast some hot dogs too.:p

ha i just thought of something. if the whole nation did get a blackout then we'd have a real government shutdown. they're in the dark on most things anyway.:p
