    This is all very old news. The newest development by SMA is their line of TL (transformerless) inverters which will power a single outlet with up to 1500W of power from the PV array alone during a grid outage with no need for batteries. Why they would publish such an article and leave out the most significant recent development that addresses the central question it raises mystifies me a little.
