Is OK to hook up a 145w panel and a 70w panel to run water well pump ?? Will set up to run only when I flip breaker. ??

No - well not drilled yet - so I don't know the lift needed / pump size to know how much solar panel I need.

Going to look at some solar panels tomorrow.
Have extra 145w now I planned to use for the well. From what I have been reading, it might take a bigger panel.
So - Maybe pick up a 70w they should still have $75.00 or 240w $195.00 (I know the 240w would have to be wired for 24v instead.)

Thanks

So long as the Vmp of the panels is close they can be run in parallel without problem.

The 240 Watt would likely have a Vmp around 30, so it could power the pump itself (but would not work well in conjunction with the 145 Watt).

    Thanks Cariboocoot

I was thinking maybe the 145w + 70w if necessary.

The 240w, if I needed that large, would be by itself.

Have to wait till I get there and they get the well drilled before I know much more.

Just too many projects all at one time - crazy & driving me crazy. ;-)

Before you buy anything (more), do a couple paper designs and see what works out best for you.

Pump requirements, how much water per day, depth of well, panel electrical specifications, etc. all play together and usually random luck in equipment selection does not save any money.

    Yes, Bill

You are correct and I know you are correct.

Even tho I have access to stuff here and no access within 2+ hours there - you are still correct, no matter how tempting it is to try to rig what I can here and then set it up there (there being 750 miles away). No buildings there (yet) so I have more working space here also. More time to try to learn things from you guys here. Will be busy building things there. I do better with paper designs for buildings. Wish I could do as well with electrical. Working on it.

Before I buy any more equipment - I do need to wait until they drill the well and then see what I'll need pump wise and what will work out best.

On 10 acres, it is still all about location, location, location.
Assume well is not near solar for business. RV has own power & solar charger. 3+ month working summer vacation. ;-)
So assume well to have own solar panel with breaker to manually turn on and off during the day to fill water tank that will be gravity flow out.
Have pondered one of those float level things to wire to panel - but for just the 2 of us and the dogs, I think I can flip the switch off/on just as easily - especially for now.

Apply KISS for now - grow into expansion - if/as needed.

    Thanks for grounding me.
