Hi,
I was just asked about a solar system for powering this:
Franklin Submersible 6" Motor 7-1/2 HP 230 Volts, 3 Ø, 60 Hz. # 2366018120S, 21.8 amps, 7000 Watts, 1.15 Service Factor, 3500 lbs thrust
But it seems to me it would be better to just replace it with a solar pump, no?

Re: Water pump
Yes.
The amount of power needed to run a 7.5 HP motor is very high. So the very first thing you examine is whether or not the pumping needs could be accomplish some other way. If that size pump is really needed the chances are the answer is "no".
A fellow I know wanted to run his irrigation pumps from solar. The cost of a system to power the three 15 HP pumps would pay the utility bill probably for the rest of his life.
