Re: Good low cost 48 Volt inverter?
Move this to its own thread to generate interest.
Off hand I don't know of any inverters that meet those criteria. Usually when you need 48 Volt you need big power with lots of features and you're in the over $2,000 area. -
Re: Good low cost 48 Volt inverter?
I am not saying that this is one you should buy, I have one and it works just fine and has a built in Solar charger. For the money and size and features, it's a deal, but lacks the features of a full line Inverter.

Re: Good low cost 48 Volt inverter?
Afraid you get good or cheap.
For only a few bucks more you can get an Outback. Outback FX3048T $1633
If you are just looking for cheap. 2500w 48v Stackable Inverter
I actually have a 2k 12v version of the cheap inverter. I used it for the battery backup on my house for several years, it is now sitting on my workbench and still works fine. Biggest drawback is modified sinewave. My refrigerator did not like running off it but lights, tv, sat dish, computers all worked fine. Got me though lots of power outages without a glitch.
I would NOT trust it to be my only source of power. Opening the cover makes it very obvious it was made in a Chinese factory by people who low paid. -
Re: Good low cost 48 Volt inverter?
I use a couple of Exeltech XP-1100 models that work very well, although I did manage to smoke one when a Trace charge controller went south. These are 1100 watts and can surge to 2200 watts and are pure sine wave. They can often be had on Evil-bay for around $300 or so, or brand new from NAWS for $596. You won't regret getting pure sine wave vs the modified for running motors and stuff when it counts.
Good Luck,
Skip12K asst panels charging through Midnite Classic 150's, powering Exeltechs and Outback VFX-3648 inverter at 12 and 48 volts. 2080 AH @ 48 VDC of Panasonic Stationary batteries (2 strings of 1040 AH each) purchased for slightly over scrap, installed August 2013. Outback PSX-240X for 220 volt duties. No genny usage since 2014.
