Magnum Energy Inverter - Version 5.1 upgrade: anyone done it?

Hi gang.

We have a three year old Magnum Energy MS4024PAE inverter. The inverter has version 4.0 and apparently Magnum advises the newest programming version is 5.1. The 'handoff' between gen and inverter isn't always the smoothest and Magnum suggested buying the new control board ($400) that has the latest 5.1 version. I'm a little surprised that there isn't an exchange program of some sort, but seems you have to buy a new control board with version 5.1 if you want the refinements they've made - which they feel have addressed 'handoff' issues.

Anyone had an older version and the newer 5.1 version that can comment on their experiences?
