Solar panel to combiner

If I run separate wires for each solar panel individually into a combiner box, do I use the feet and amperage of each individual panel do determine the correct wire size? The combiner box will put them together into serial.

You might be confused on terminology, as you do not need a combiner box to connect panels in series. With most panels available today you need only plug them together (+) to (-) using the polarized MC4 connectors on the end of each panel's wire leads.
