Two 6 AWG wires in parallel would be about equal to one 3 AWG wire.

    Welcome to the forum.

I've moved your inquiry to its own thread for clarity purposes.

Speaking of which, could you be a tad more specific? Are you wondering what the equivalent wire gauge for two parallel 6 AWG lines would be?

Welcome to the forum. Please explain what you are trying to accomplish. It may be dangerous (fire hazard) to double up wires. Not necessarily, but it depends on why you are doing it. It is not safe to do it if you are trying to increase ampacity.

It depends on whether you are talking about resistance or ampacity.

    Resistance of #6 = 0.491 ohms/1000'
    Resistance of (2) #6 in parallel = 0.246 ohms/1000'
    Resistance of #3 = 0.245 ohms/1000'

    Non derated ampacity of #6 w/90 degree C insulation = 75A
    Non derated ampacity of (2) #6 w/90 degree C insulation in parallel = 150A
    Non derated ampacity of #3 w/90 degree C insulation = 115A
