What little I know of transmission design, says that these things are going to be very short lived. It takes money, really good metallurgy, very high quality machining, and great lubrication, to get these things to survive... Or, that's how I see it. And for the price, there's little chance these things could include all that.

Re: Huh, Ebay "find".
Both photos look like very poor copies of the modified PM Delco automotive alternator direct drive wind turbine, such as the Hornet. Had one. Useless for producing electricity, other than during tropical storms. Unfortunately for power generation, we don't have many tropical storms per year. It was nice though to relax in the tall grass and stare up at the spinning blades on a nice sunny day. So it was good for something, just not for making useful electricity.

Re: Huh, Ebay "find".
Wow! A wind turbine that will produce 12 volts,, up to 18 volts in full wind! (no mention how ever of current!)
My wood stove fan produces 1.5 volts,, maybe I should series a bunch together and run my house on them!

It says "MOTOR - 500 WATT WITH A 20:1 SEALED GEAR BOX PREINSTALLED"
That's the part that looks like a real quick disaster waiting to happen. -
