Sizing inverter cables

My neighbors just replaced an old PS2524 with a Outback VFX3524. Their cables appeared to be 1/0. I had an experienced installer do my cables on my Outback and he used 4/0 all the way from the batteries to the inverter. Our cable runs are similar length, less than 6 feet.
Just wondering if they should also get 4/0 cables or if 2/0 would be sufficient. They have 800Ahr of L16 batteries.

Re: Sizing inverter cables
a 6ft run of 1/0 would have a v drop of about 1% and will work, but i would probably say 2/0 or better is best for passing up to 150a.
