350 Megawatt Wind Turbine Farm in NW Ohio !

There is a huge Wind Turbine Farm that is nearing completion in Pauling and Van Wert Counties in Northwest Ohio. I drove past the turbines on Friday and about 50% of the wind turbines were turning with only 9-10mph winds. On Monday with 15mph winds about 80% of them were turning. The project is not 100% completed. Given the information provided I calculate that each wind turbine generates about $500,000 in electricity per year and each costs about $2 Million to install. Could "grid-sized" wind turbines actually be NET profitable ??? The turbines were manufactured in Pennsylvania, too! The project created 300 temporary construction / installation type jobs for about 1 year and 25-30 permanent jobs. Plus, there was a 30% Federal Tax Credit that made this project even more profitable for someone.

Re: 350 Megawatt Wind Turbine Farm in NW Ohio !
Thanks for noticing our efforts! The Blue Creek Wind Farm is a 304 MW wind farm, utilizing 152 Gamesa G90 2.0 MW wind turbines. There is a chance that we may be able to expand the project to the full 350 MW that we have reserved on the nearby 345 kV transmission line. You can read more about the project here: www.iberdrolarenewables.us/bluecreek.html.
The project is a significant source of green electricity (enough for 76,000 average Ohio households) and local economic development. We will become the largest single taxpayer in Van Wert County, equal to the current top 14 taxpayers combined. And we will also contribute to the local economy with landowner lease payments and new permanent jobs from our maintenance technicians. -

Welcome to the Forum "Blue Creek",
Not directly related to your wind farm--Are you guys working/contracting/looking at electrical power storage systems?
Even for us Solar Power users, the expensive and maintenance intensive part of off grid power has always been the battery bank.
