Is There A Place For a Programmable Logic Controller in a PV (off-grid) System?

I could come home with an Allen Bradley PLC5 rack and processor with an analog input card and a few digital input and output cards. I was just wondering if anyone would bother and what might be the uses of running a 120V system from a PSW inverter.

If a wind turbine were installed you could get an analog signal, but to what end?

Control a hot water system with timers and temp swiches? Christmas lights? lol

I started out with a Siemens Logo! PLC then expanded to an Advantech PAC. Follow the two links in my signature. The one thing that made me go to the PAC was the PLC analog input could not read mVolts from a current shunt. The PAC will.
