Can I use these batteries instead?

Is the Power Battery Company TC-12150C 12v battery a compatible battery to the Trojan L16H 6v battery?

I am running a 48v system; so instead of strings of 8 with the Trojans, I assume I can run strings of 4 with the PBC batteries?

Thanks!

If you’re asking if you can use the TC-12150C in the same battery bank as the L16H’s, the answer is absolutely not. The charge- and EQ voltages required by the flooded-cell L16H will ruin the VRLA (sealed) TC-12150C.

    Yes, but only if:

a)You use the PBC batteries instead of the Trojans, and
b)You adjust your system’s charger settings to the PBS specs.

No that wasn't what I was asking.

Got it. But also looks like the AMP Hours are much lower on these compared to the Trojans.

With Trojans being $400+ each, and some used PBCs available for $75. Of course I don't know what shape the PBCs are in, and I know you get what you pay for.

    >$400 for L16H seems a tad high... these guys over in NM sell 'em for <$300: http://www.thesolar.biz/Trojan_batteries.htm

Check with local battery houses for better prices. Also, try to contact HB Phil via this forum... he found great prices in SoCal on MK brand AGM batteries earlier this year. See: http://forum.solar-electric.com/showthread.php?t=416&page=7
