Cheap Inverter for Solar Dump

Sam's Club in Las Vegas had 750 Watt inverters for $19.81 so I just couldn't resist.

Normally my batteries charge full by about Noon so a lot of solar power goes wasted during the afternoon hours. I decided to use this inverter to run my propane refridgerator on AC during these hot hours of the afternoon.

The fan on this unit is noisy and since I was only running the inverter at about 400 watts, I decided to slow the fan down with a 5 volt 1 watt zener diode in series with the fan's positive wire.

Now the inverter is quiet and I save a small amount of propane every afternoon.
