cool boat BUT isnt there always a BUT? totally impractical. 250 days to go half way around the world .. it came to my home city Brisbane. For a boat that carries 4 people it appears huge.. Was told panels have to be cleaned evey hour from salt.

odd having a mountain guide designing a solar yacht.

hmm, i may have to read into it as who would give a mountain guide $16 million to do this?
after further reading they didn't reveal who gave the $, but i'm certainly for hire when talking this kind of $.:D

For $one million I think I could design a SAIL boat that would hold more people and go around the world faster. and be even more Green that the solar boat.

They apparently had to modify the original array layout of covering all available deck space with panels. Even with "cantilevered wings" to add more panels they still don't generate enuf power to propel the craft at a decent speed.

And I bet those wings contribute to major handling issues during a blow.
