Re: Mixing new and old lithium LiFePo4 batteries
@Osolemio Experience on this forum has shown that there is very little lose of capacity at 3 to 5 years so combining old and new should not be an issue in that time frame. For battery modules, it's n…3 · -
Re: Using electric car battery to power off grid homes
There is a Lithium chemistry that has been rapidly dropping in price over the last few years. That is LTO cells, Lithium-titanate. Life time is 20,000 cycles and the most recent price is $30 for a 2.…1 · -
Re: Charge Controller isn't outputting enough voltage for Lithium Battery... maybe.
Correct, it will take amps until it is full. The battery will take constant current until the voltage reaches the absorb set point and then because the voltage will no longer rise, the amperage will …1 · -
Re: Is ditching generators possible yet?
@morpho The problem is the battery chemistry, lead acid can't take that kind of amperage, but Lithium can. A 200AH bank of 15 or 16 CALB SE200FI cells wired in series will take a max of 200 constant …1 · -
Re: Lifepo4 replacement quandary
I agree that cells in parallel can be looked at as single cells, but I don't think they can be protected that way. IMO a BMS would need to measure and manage individual cells to be effective.1 ·
