i have 3 parallel sets of 2x12v batteries, what should be the "full charge" voltage of the bank? and the lowest, without getting to extremes and killing the batteries?

    here's a reference.

Personally I like to limit low Voltage to system nominal. That is 24 Volts for a 24 Volt system. The reason for this is that nominal "no load" or "resting" Voltage is about 50% SOC so that same Voltage under load assures the battery will not be below that level.

Normal Absorb Voltage for a 24 Volt system is 28.8, but it can be higher for some batteries (29.6 for Trojan, for example). You should have a remote temperature sensor to compensate for cold/hot batteries, and you will always have to experiment some to see what works best on your system (partly due to the fact the Voltage readings of the equipment may not be entirely accurate).
