I have purchased one for trials etc.
Canuk company . http://www.mtpinc.com/SearchResults.htm?PG=1&CDT=1369843688
So far, 3 days in It seems to almost emulate the same readings as the original kill-a-watt.
When freezer kicks in, 168 watts is added to the MTP system and killawatt jumps to 180 and then cuts down to 170 watts.
I can turn on any 220v machine and see its added draw.
Keeps track of my wasting .. After this week I should be able to download it the PC program and analyze it.
Keeps track of 2 years in day by hr monitoring , every 10 seconds it updates.
New tech toy 4 VT ;) Spec's = http://www.mtpinc.com/Products.htm?CD=97&ID=616

Very nice device, and very inexpensive.

8% error is probably a little bit too high.

8% is a high rate , but the Tech-Rep who I was at a Show with said that the leeway was needed for legality due to the Dumb Spying Meters .

I have been testing it against with the original kill-a-watt, on 110V draws , with the 220 table saw's plus , when I figure amps/volts to watts , the reported watts added to the existing load on the panel within close range. 8% is a over statement as I have seen.

Others might find it different. You do need to sync in your 220 voltage , Mine is 224 Volts at dinner time load.

One serious limitation is that it does not have a voltage waveform reference the way the Kill-a-Watt does, and so can only display VA and not watts.
The good side of that is that it will show you that whole-house PF correction capacitors really work. :(

Very true & I read that in the Manual, Still it can give anyone a great one week/month report .
I'll post my one week trial and see . I have the pool up & working plus all the summer toyz, In a few more weeks the snow shovels will be dusting off again !!:p
