Disconnect

Trying to think ahead...What is a good recommended battery disconnect for a 800aH set going to the Magnum mini-panel controller? We're going to be using 16 Surette L-16, 405's (I think they are really rated 350 each) in 48v configuration. The system as planed doesn't have a disconnect or fuses for the battery bank. What about fuses between battery's or banks of battery's? What's the acceptable practice?

TIA, Paul...
3500w solar, 800AH with Rolls Surrette, Magnum inverter, Midnite charge controller, Kubota 21kW diesel genset...private well...and just recently connected to city power for additional options...nice to have options

Each of the two 8 battery strings should have one fuse. You can place one anywhere in the string of 8.

For overall disconnect prior to inverter I would use a high amperage DC breaker.

You might also want to consider putting each string on a 350 amp Anderson connector so you can unplug one bank to work on it while other maintains power to inverter.
