Another question re inverters.  Everything I have read re calculations for sizing of cables, fuse & breaker from batteries to the inverter use Continuous Watts instead Surge Watts.  It seems like this is a mistake.  Your thoughts?  Thanks.

  • Thanks for the input.  System designed to provide off grid minimal emergency power during expected PG&E power outages in Calif.  (4) HQST 100W PVs connected in series, 10AWG wires thru disconnect box, 15A fuse, 15A brk, 63A GFP to HQST 40A Chg Cont, thru 6 AWG wire to 40A brk, switch, & 40A fuse to (2) 10AH sealed lead acid deep cycle batteries connected in parallel thru 4/0 cables, to Power Tech-On Inverter 1500W continuous/3000 surge 12V, thru 4/0 cables, 300A fuse, 250A brk, from AC outlets of inverter to off grid cabin thru a surge protector & 15A AC breakers with AC receptacles outside connected to short extension cords.  Plan to add (2) more 100AH batteries in future.  Sorry I don't know how to respond to comments individually.  Pls let me know if this makes sense.  I have most components except the batteries, breakers, GFP & fuses. Any questions or recommendations?  Thanks again.
