Diode Fuse Fuse Diode.

After wiring the solar panels in parallel what comes next fuse or diode?

What is the fuse protecting?

Should it be rated for batterycurrent or PV current?

    Why would you need diodes?

    Are you kidding me.

I was told in the technical forum and after doing some research the diode is to prevent the solar panels discharging the batteries at night.

On the system in question there is a 100A fuse before the diode which is confusing me. Because unless there is a potential of high current from the panels then I cant see why it is there.

    No, I am not kidding.

    What technical forum? This one?

Only reason you would need a diode is if you don't have a charge controller - which you definately should have.

that was the case as he only had the diode and no controller and he wanted to know what the diode was for.

You need to trash the diode and get a charge controller on that system before you have a thermal issue with the batterys
