Marine battery disconnect

I’m looking at using a rotary marine battery disconnect switch for my off grid battery bank.

http://bluesea.com/category/1/productline/3

Its rated 350A cont. 1750A inrush.

My 12VDC input inverter is 2kW Cont. 4.5kW Surge. Bank of 4 GC2 220ah Batteries, 4/0 Cabling, 300A fuse.

Does anyone have experience with using this type of switch for off grid installations?

Thank you,

Jerry

    Re: Marine battery disconnect

If nothing else, a a battery disconnect switch comes in handy when assembling or maintaining a system.

I used the 350 A model for several years with no problems. A heavy duty model is also available: http://bluesea.com/category/1/productline/4

Even better would be a big DC rated breaker with a high AIR rating (20 kA to 50 kA).

I use one to switch between my old and my new battery banks. Having the ability to switch in 1, 2, or both is really handy.
