Sunfrost RF-16 Fusing.

RF-16 refrigerator freezer has compressor starting amps of 7.5 @ 24vdc. What is the proper fuse amperage? Right now it has a 15 amp Bussman auto blade type fuse from previous owner so I am making sure this is within acceptable limits.

It depends. Many DC refrigeration compressors have an DC to AC inverter and will not havea high surge current (if any).

I am not a fan of automotive blade fuses. Some holders have overheated and just about caught fire when running well below rated current.

As long as the fuse and holder look good (no signs of getting hot), then it is probably fine for now (holder not near any flammable materials).

Longer term, you may want to replace witha good quality breaker or fuse holder assembly.

What is a fuse agen, any examples? I do have a spare Sq D QO 2 circuit breaker box but the smallest breaker would be 15 amps so is that good for the 7.5 amp surge? The 2 compressors, refig and  freezer, are 24vdc.

Fuse holder assembly... Auto incorrect on my phone.

15 amps should be good. One fuse/breaker per 14 awg minimum wire to major load. Keeping separate branch circuits is nice. If one were to blow, the others will still work.

Thanks, no problem on the wire gauge, minimum I use/have for circuits is 12.
