    It is helpful to have an example (in context) of the usage... But in English (or American?) we use xxx as "place holders" for specific numbers.

    For example a machine could be ordered to run at either 120 or 230 VAC--Such as ACME-PL30-xxx where xxx would be 120 or 240

    Similar for yyy and zzz (think of algebra: y=mx+b) or computer programing for searching wildcards ( a star "*" in Google search matches anything...)
