    I would avoid using a MSW inverter for a motor load. Not all MSW inverters are created equal, nor are all motor loads, so some combinations may run ok. In general though, the motor is likely to run hot, so I'd avoid it.

    For the meter, I ended up ordering the 203. I figured it was made in China, but it turns out it's actually shipping from China too. Fortunately I don't need it in a hurry, so if it takes 6 weeks on a slow boat I can live with that.

    Mod sine inverters are good for toasters, waffle irons and coffee pots.  Simple resistive heating chores.

    Motors run with increased hum and power factor is lower than with pure sine. That said, the motor on my piston pump has run faultlessly since 1996 and doesn't look like it's going to give up soon. 
    Island cottage solar system with 2500 watts of panels, 1kw facing southeast 1.3kw facing southwest 170watt ancient Arco's facing south. All panels in parallel for a 24 volt system. Trace DR1524 MSW inverter, Outback Flexmax 80 MPPT charge controller 8 Trojan L16's. Insignia 11.5 cubic foot electric fridge. My 30th year.
