Tv inverter

I have a 32" led tv that uses 22 watts on kill a watt meter. Currently I'm using a 12 volt 300 watt inverter. .7 amps or 8.4 watts on standby. Wouldn't it be more efficient to use say a 80 watt inverter with a .15 amp standby. Some of the inverter specs ive looked at say 90% efficiency and 95% at 1/3 load? Is my math right 120 volts at 22 watts at 95%= 23.1+1.8=24.9 watts on 12 volts?

Is the 80w a pure sine wave unit?

No modified 100 watt is the lowest pure sine I can find aims .7 idle samlex 120 22 watts idle.does anyone make a small pure sine with low idle?

An inverter with remote on/off is really nice in these cases--Turning off Inverter saves a fair amount of energy (a pain if you have satellite or DVR running from inverter). Some TVs take "longer to boot" if started from a cold shutdown.

I found that a MSW 300W inverter was more efficient than a smaller one at low power.  The transformers are too small on the sub 100W units. The big current use are the fans.  I disconnect mine as they account for about a watt each.  At that power they dont need cooling.  I have a little 100W Rdgid and that won't even power a 30W device. It goes into shutdown just charging the capacitors in the power pack.

So say a 210 msw compared to a 80 watt both has a .15 no load 90% efficiency. Clip the fan and the 210 will use less watts? The smallest pure sine I've found is a 120 .5 idle 90%.Do you add in idle when it is under load also.?

Some inverters switch on the fan only when they get hot, some run all the time.

Just a thought, but maybe a small msw needs to run a fan to get rid of the heat generated because it's running an "ugly" (to it) load. Add on a fan to get rid of heat in the design. Done. So we have the fan, so why bother with whether to turn it on. Costs money, adds problems.

User clips fan wire to save power = no warranty. What's not to like?

I found one small msw with a copper heat sink no fan?

A heat sink takes no power to run (in the sense it isn't creating more heat moving heat). Try it and see? Worst case, keep it away from flammables until you know it works?
