    Also, if using more than two strings in parallel, each string should have overcurrent protection IMHO.

    Hello everyone, I have been absent for a few months. I have acquired a 6th panel and plan to go with 3 pairs this spring. My question is how many parallel strings of batteries can I run? I have one string of four 6v batteries. I'd like to add more. Any comments?

    So probably 2 series strings paralleled together would be a good set-up? If I use more it will affect charging?

    With 6 x 320w panels on a classic 200, I'd expect ~50a charging at 28v. 2 strings of GC batteries is ~450ah, so charging at a bit over C/10 (minus any loads).

    If this arithmetic is correct, you probably don't want to add much more battery unless; you're in a really sunny location, this is a weekend cabin type of application, or you can supplement with grid/generator etc charging.
