Hi Search came up with some older discussions. Links to new discussions welcome :-)

Have horses in Alaska, IE when I need to heat water tanks, solar is NOT available. Inconsistent okay as they are water tanks.

Suggestions/Ideas welcome for using wind to heat the tanks?

Thnaks
Michelle

Wings and propellers on air planes ice up.   How would you prevent that from happening ?
Chris in Michigan had found his several, well maintained, windmills frozen up and and had to thaw generators to
get power back on. (solar panels buried under feet of snow too)

At some point you probably have to consider a high quality generator and autostart. I have a few clients in your state and they use warm water to de-ice from generators in deep winter.
