Hey folks I need some advice. I just added a second battery to my solar system. I'm far from an artist and do not speak electrical or solar well. Everything I've learned has been from forums and youtube. So please don't expect me to be articulate or artistic. That said, does my drawing of how the system can be set up look right? I'm visual so that helps. Thanks in advance! BTW these are two 12v 100ah batteries.

Or maybe this is a better configuration?

You need to take the pos.+ from one battery and the Neg.- from the other battery. This forces the charging and load to come to/from both batteries evenly. Very good info at this site.

Move the positive battery connection to battery 1 and the negative to battery 2 . This will provide better current  ballance between both batteries during charging and dischargeing, inverter connected to same points. Another alternative is to connect all the positive terminals together with a heavy bus bar, do the same with the negative terminals, then connect the controller and loads to the bus bar.

Move the positive from the charging source to battery 2 then all is good

Charging and load (inverter in this case) should BOTH go to the same diagonal points Here you still have charge controller connected to the first battery. Move the positive from controller down to the lower battery.
