so i have 3 72 cell 300 watt panels, im going to use 3 strings and have a 36v input. ocv is 46.8, 20' to midnite kid marine with epanel mini 125 with a samlex pst1524 for the inverter and a 25amp iota, i was thinking of a 400 ah bank, it gets cold here, battery high temp on agm is 73º f today.i will have this out side in a small power shed. no heat so I lose about 30% of battery due to temps. any sugestions would like fla this time to check electrolite

Not sure what suggestions you're looking for. With warm panels and cold batteries, you may have trouble getting EQ, or maybe even Vbs with an mppt controller.

The potential current from the panels may be a bit low, but with Iotas I assume tou have a generator and don't mind using it some.

As for AGM vs flooded, I'm partial to flooded for the same reason - to check SG and electrolyte level. That said, I can see a use for AGM ( eg low self discharge) in some applications.

Okay. I thought you had 3 panels, but if you have 6 (2Px3s) that should work. 4xL16 type flooded would likely be a good fit.

Its my main system that has six panels. You were right. 3 panels I hope I can still eq. The panel specs are 300w 44.8 voc mpv is 36.3 8.69 and 8.20 - I use agm on my main system but i get paranoid the last 2 years have made 81.2 kAH and 2261 kwh thru the xw 60-150 controller but no shunt or bm to say what was just for the batterys.

Even at reasonable ambient temps (eg 70°f), with no breeze the panels get pretty hot in the sun, which will bring voltage down some. You could look for a normal cell operating temperature Vmp rating to get a sense of what to expect.

It may work with 3 panels in parallel some/most of the time depending on bank and panel temps. The altitude should help. You'd have to try and see at your installation to really know.

If you find voltage too low you could rewire and use 2 panels in series, or add a 4th and wire 2s2p? Some flooded ( thinking Rolls) want highish Vabs which you might want to avoid for this application.
