Samlex Inverter Circuit Board Damage

Hi all,

Just cracked open this Samlex inverter to see why the power input light comes on, but no juice comes out.

Owner said it got wet, but I didn't want to believe that a Samlex would be killed by H2O. Now that I'm looking at it, it seems it got very wet. A lot. There looks like there's plenty of water damage all over the board.

While inspecting I came across this component, noticeable because of all the rust-colored excretion around it. I'm wondering if anyone knows what the component is, just for my own education. It looks like a tiny transistor to me...?

Looking forward to your thoughts.

    Hi Casey,

That part looks like a Surface-Mount Capacitor. The adjoining part that is not stuffed is labeled C ??, would bet that the white Legend labels the part in question as C-something.

Would bet that the residue is not rust. FWIW. Good Luck, Vic
