Surrette S-530 Electrolyte Volume

Options
Does anyone know the total volume of electrolyte in an S530?

I was asked to do maintenance on a system and the batteries appeared to be about as empty as can be, but I'd like to quantify for the customer just how completely empty they were.

Boiled out. Customer had the sell voltage set to 56.4 and no temperature sensor and no water added in over a year.

And this is in Texas where batteries can and do get over 100F on a regular basis. You can do that math.

Wet weight 117, Dry Weight 90 , Electrolyte, best I can tell is 8.34 lb per gallon. 27 lb of Electrolyte = 3.23 gallons. Don't hold me to it, just a wild guess.

Thanks -- I didn't know if "dry" was with or without however much paste and how that changed the weight of whatever made them "wet".

The batteries needed 1.75 gallons to get back to "full". I filled them under the theory that "batteries that are full and maybe work are better than batteries that are mostly empty and definitely don't work."

The customer will have to decide how quickly to replace them ...

I am not sure if it's correct or not, so don't take it to the bank.

I came up with numbers somewhere around there, so I was already on my way to the bank with something like that ;)
